But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word
in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the
name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. Deuteronomy, Chapter 18,
verse 20.
This passage reminds us to be cautious about the religious
advice we listen to. There are many
different people out there who say that they know God’s Will for us, but these
people tell us totally opposite things.
Obviously, everyone who says that they know God’s Will for us; can’t ALL
be right. This dilemma confused me for
years. I started reading the Bible in
1980, to find out for myself what God’s Will was. That way, I could trust the instincts that
God gave me as I read the Bible. As an Instincts Christian, this is
much better than listening to other people’s opinions in order to figure out
who is right and who is wrong.
Since this is an example of the positive influence God has made on my walk with Christ, this may not reflect the whole meaning of the Bible verses.
